Nearly half of Glastonbury crimes unresolved as violence and sexual offences dominate police data

Almost half of all crimes reported in Glastonbury over the past year ended without prosecution, according to new police data that highlights how many cases remain unresolved.
Between March 2024 and February 2025, a total of 1,248 crimes were recorded in the town. Of those, 346 cases (27.7%) were listed as status update unavailable, and 314 cases (25.2%) were marked unable to prosecute suspect - usually due to a lack of evidence, identification issues, or the victim not supporting further action.
An additional 226 cases (18.1%) remain under investigation, while 35 cases (2.8%) were closed as further investigation is not in the public interest. 31 cases (2.5%) were logged as investigation complete with no suspect identified.
A further 15 cases (1.2%) were listed as formal action not in the public interest, 9 cases (0.7%) as further action not in the public interest, and 16 cases (1.3%) were passed to another organisation for action.
Just 26 cases (2.1%) are awaiting a court outcome, and 18 cases (1.4%) have a court result unavailable. Only 7 offenders (0.6%) were given a caution, and 12 cases (1%) were resolved through local resolution, typically involving out-of-court agreements.
