A Somerset-based tutor has been named a finalist in the 2025 Secondary Tutor of the Year awards, a national scheme celebrating excellence in private tuition across the UK and beyond.

Lauren Coppell, who runs Lauren Alice Tutoring, was shortlisted earlier this year and was announced as runner-up during a red-carpet ceremony in London on 4 July.

Specialising in secondary education and GCSE Maths, Lauren has supported hundreds of pupils with personalised lessons, creative resources and consistent encouragement. Her approach has earned high praise from students, parents and fellow educators alike.

"I feel very lucky and grateful for getting as far as I did," she said. "Knowing that students are choosing to spend their spare time doing extra maths learning with me is a real privilege. I especially want to thank the amazing students and parents I've worked with — I definitely wouldn't have been on that stage without you."

The Secondary Tutor of the Year award recognises tutors who make a significant difference to their students' academic progress and confidence.

Lauren continues to focus on her mission: to be the kind of support she wished she'd had at school, making maths more enjoyable and accessible while helping students exceed their own expectations.
