Remember when you were a child, gazing in awe at the big, bright, shiny engines of fire trucks, ambulances, buses, and, let's not forget, those enormous, noisy construction vehicles?

When their mere sight or sound would prompt a delightful gasp, a finger point, and a hurried, excited explanation, "Look! Look! Big lorry!" If you've been around a pre-schooler lately, you'd know that some things never change.

Little learners from Fairfield Montessori School in Glastonbury had the unique opportunity to gain a hands-on understanding of the various modes of transport, exploring an array of vehicles ranging from buses to emergency vehicles and construction vehicles, broadening their knowledge while feeding their insatiable curiosity.

This immersive learning experience was made possible by the kindness and support of various organisations within the community, and the Fairfield Montessori School would like to express their deepest gratitude.

The collaboration resulted in an education that transcended the boundaries of the classroom, fostering a tangible sense of learning that sparked the children's imaginations.

A notable mention of gratitude goes out to the Wells Bus Depot. The institution opened its doors to the young students, showcasing the intricacies of public transportation. The pre-schoolers had the chance to board an actual bus, seeing first-hand how this vital cog in society's transportation machine functions.

The team at Glastonbury Fire Station were instrumental in explaining the workings of a fire engine, allowing the children to explore the vehicle up close, while South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust let children see the inside of an ambulance, teaching them about the ambulance service and the vital work they do in the community.

Bradfords Building Supplies, bought their construction vehicles for the children to explore. The visit sparked intrigue about the complex world of construction, and how these larger-than-life vehicles contribute to building the infrastructure around them.

Such a tangible learning experience undoubtedly had a profound impact on the children of Fairfield Montessori School, expanding their understanding and piquing their interest in the multifaceted world of transportation.

As the laughter and excitement of the little explorers echoed around the vehicles they were studying, the resounding sentiment was clear: the children were having an absolute blast.
