House prices in Glastonbury and Street have dipped in the past year — but they remain more affordable than neighbouring Shepton Mallet.

The average home in Street (BA16) now sells for £294,128, a modest rise of 0.5% in the last year. Glastonbury (BA6) saw a small fall of 2.4%, with average prices now at £333,730.

Both compare to Shepton, where homes plunged 8% to £332,952 — a drop of more than £30,000 in 12 months.

At the top end of the Somerset market, Wedmore leads the way with homes averaging £582,420, while Bruton sits at £471,395.

Richard Donnell, Executive Director of Research & Insight at Zoopla, said: "The rise in available listings, especially across southern England, is reinforcing a buyer's market and helping keep house price growth in check."
