Community groups and voluntary organisations in Glastonbury, Street, and the surrounding areas can now apply for grants of up to £2,000 from the Mendip Hills Fund to support local projects that benefit the environment or enhance community facilities.

The fund, which opened on October 1 and closes on December 2, is designed to support initiatives across the Mendip Hills National Landscape and nearby areas. Projects can range from wildlife conservation efforts to social enterprises such as food initiatives and activities aimed at increasing community involvement.

Jim Hardcastle, Mendip Hills National Landscape manager, said: "It's more important than ever to help nature across the Mendip Hills, but funds can also be awarded for projects that help people in the area as well. A little bit of money can really help create strong community networks."
