Glastonbury’s new gluten free café is so good, you won’t miss the gluten

If you're looking for a 100% gluten free café in Glastonbury, Café Chakra is the hidden gem you didn't know you needed.
Tucked at the St John's Car Park end of the Gauntlet, Café Chakra may be small – just a couple of tables – but it delivers big flavours with a menu that's entirely gluten free, freshly made on-site, and packed with personality.
Right opposite, you'll find The Flying Teapot – another tiny venue with the same friendly vibe, also 100% gluten free. Both are run by the same couple, and together they're turning this once-quiet end of the Gauntlet into a must-visit destination for coeliac-friendly food in Glastonbury.

Café Chakra was originally founded in the mid-Wales market town of Machynlleth, opening in 2022. Owners Debs and Phil made a name for themselves on the UK festival scene with their award-winning food stall, The Cheezy Vinyl Bar – a travelling cheese and port bar. Now based in Glastonbury, they've brought their creativity and hospitality to a permanent home.
Debs, who has Coeliac disease, is the driving force behind the completely gluten free menu – and it shows. Every dish feels thoughtful and indulgent, without ever trying too hard to be "free from."
We tried a pistachio and rose shortbread, a classic cupcake, a sticky flapjack, and a Bakewell slice, all beautifully made and full of flavour. We also sampled a chai latte, hot chocolate, and decaffeinated coffee, all served with a choice of milk alternatives.

The sweet counter at Café Chakra features a rotating menu of gluten-free brownies, cupcakes, flapjacks, shortbreads, and Bakewell slices, while savoury options include quiches, sourdough bread, pies, and sausage rolls (vegetarian and meat). On market days, they also serve fresh gluten-free salads.
Drinks include freshly brewed coffee (including decaf), herbal teas, hot chocolates, and even gluten-free, low-alcohol beer.

Service is friendly, warm and personal — the kind that makes you want to come back. Several customers left with takeaway boxes stacked with cakes and savouries during our visit.
If you're wondering where to eat gluten free in Glastonbury, Café Chakra and The Flying Teapot should be at the top of your list. Whether you're coeliac or not, the food speaks for itself — and the shortbread alone is worth the walk.
