Glastonbury Tor, one of Somerset's most recognisable landmarks, will be illuminated on Monday, 9th September, to mark the start of Air Ambulance Week 2024.

The event is part of a wider initiative to raise awareness of the vital work carried out by Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Known for its rich history and spiritual significance, Glastonbury Tor stands as a beacon across the Somerset Levels, making it the perfect location to highlight the life-saving efforts of the local air ambulance service.

This symbolic gesture is supported by the National Trust and aims to draw attention to the need for public support and donations.

Emma Jones, fundraising manager for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, explained the importance of the event: "Our incredible team of clinicians brings intensive care to some of the most remote areas of Somerset and Dorset. Their work is only possible thanks to the generous support of the public, and each mission costs around £3,500."

The illumination of Glastonbury Tor will help raise funds and awareness for the charity, which relies on public donations to continue its life-saving missions. Every pound raised during Air Ambulance Week will directly contribute to the ongoing efforts of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance team, ensuring they can continue providing emergency care across the region.
