The Mayor of Glastonbury, Cllr Michael White, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Zoe Price, joined students and members of the public to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day on Tuesday, 27 January 2026.

A morning ceremony was held at the Peace Pole in St Dunstan's Car Park, with pupils from St Dunstan's School, Rev Alice Watson from St John's Church, Father Mark from St Mary's Catholic Church, and local residents in attendance.

In the afternoon, the mayor took part in a Holocaust Memorial Service hosted by St Benedict's Junior School.. Both events honoured the memory of the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, as well as others who suffered under Nazi persecution and in subsequent genocides.

Holocaust Memorial Day is observed annually on 27 January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
