Glastonbury is celebrating significant milestones as a beacon of ethical trading practices, marking 21 years as a Fairtrade Town and the 30th anniversary of the Fairtrade Mark itself.

This long-standing commitment underscores the town's dedication to offering better prices, decent working conditions, and fairer deals for farmers and workers in developing countries.

Fairtrade's model provides farmers and workers more control over their lives and the ability to make decisions about investing in their futures.

By choosing from over 6,000 Fairtrade products available worldwide, Glastonbury's residents and visitors contribute to positive change through their everyday shopping choices. Products bearing the Fairtrade Mark meet internationally agreed standards that are independently certified, ensuring ethical practices across the supply chain.

The Town Council has remained a steadfast supporter of the Fairtrade movement, routinely using and promoting licensed products with the Fairtrade Mark.

Establishments like Abbey Tea Rooms, Art of Africa, and Burns the Bread are among the many local businesses supporting this initiative by offering Fairtrade products.

To help locals and tourists easily locate Fairtrade goods, a Glastonbury Fairtrade Town Steering Group actively promotes these products, offering a detailed list of local establishments where they can be purchased.

Establishments like Abbey Tea Rooms, Art of Africa, and Burns the Bread are among the many local businesses supporting this initiative by offering Fairtrade products. For those interested in supporting or joining the Fairtrade movement, the Steering Group is open to new members and can be contacted via email at [email protected] or by phone.
