The annual Glastonbury Frost Fayre returns this weekend with stalls, food and music spread throughout the town centre. The event is extremely popular and the town is expected to get very busy again.
The event runs on Saturday (November 26) from 11am until 6pm and presents an ideal opportunity to pick up some present ideas for Christmas or just get yourself in the festive spirit.
Here is what you need to know, from the timings and road closures to the events occurring throughout the day.
What's on during the day?
The event - which is FREE - is on Saturday, November 26 and takes over the centre of Glastonbury with stalls and three music stages running the length of High Street. There are things going on from 11am to 6pm, and the official launch takes place at noon.
This does of course mean High Street in its entirety will be closed to traffic all day.
At the fayre you can expect to see Father Christmas and his helper, fairies and elves, all day buskers and live street entertainment, live performances, market stalls, the official Christmas light switch on, live performances free entry to the abbey and more.
Here's the official poster, detailing what's on, where and when.
Which roads will be closed during the day?
The following roads will be closed between 8am and 8pm:
- High Street
- Magdalene Street
- Benedict Street (from High Street to far side of entrance to St Benedict's Street Kitchen Cafe)
- Northload Street (pedestrian area)
- Archers Way (from High Street to Post Office Sorting Office entrance.)
Where can I park?
There are five pay and display car parks all within easy reach of the town centre - please note - the sixth car park at the bottom of the map near the Abbey will be shut.
The car parks can fill up very quickly, so a park n' ride is operating from Herbies Field (Postcode BA6 9LF, and will be signposted). The suggested donation is £5 per car. The park n' ride will be operating from 9am – 6pm and the car park gates at Herbies Field will be shut at 7pm.
If you're coming in for the fayre, please park responsibly (especially if using residential areas) and if at all possible, use public transport, car share and if you live close enough please walk to the fayre.
What's the forecast?
It's looking a bit of a mixed bag, according to the BBC. We can expect a cloudy start to the morning, bringing spells of rain by the afternoon. Rain will become heavier and more persistent towards the evening. The temperature is expected to be mild, but it might be windy.
