Glastonbury flu clinic offers children half-term catch-up
By Laura Linham 21st Oct 2026
Children who missed their flu vaccination at school can attend a walk-in clinic at West Mendip Hospital on Monday, 26 October. The session runs from 9.30am to 2.30pm and covers children from reception through to Year 11.
No appointment is needed for the nasal spray clinic at the hospital on Old Wells Road. It is part of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust's community programme for children who have not yet received their vaccination this season.
Somerset's school-age immunisation team also supports children who are home educated or otherwise not attending school. Community clinics provide an alternative opportunity to catch up with vaccinations outside a school visit.
The children's flu vaccine is usually given as a quick spray into each nostril. The NHS recommends vaccination to help protect children against flu and reduce the risk of passing it to other people.
Some children cannot have the nasal spray and will need an injectable vaccine instead. Parents should contact the Somerset immunisation team on 0300 323 0032 to arrange this, rather than relying on the walk-in nasal spray session.
Families with questions about their child's suitability for vaccination can contact the team on the same number. Further details are available on the Somerset NHS flu vaccination programme page.
