Glastonbury's Carpetright store is among the 213 locations that will close as part of the flooring retailer's significant restructuring.

Along with major outlets in Bristol, Somerset, and Gloucestershire, the store is affected by a recent rescue deal in which Carpetright was acquired by rival company Tapi.

Carpetright, now owned by Nestware Holdings, had been struggling with declining demand and a major cyber attack in April, which led to its decision to file for administration earlier this month. As part of the administration process, the company has announced the closure of 213 stores, resulting in over 1,000 job losses nationwide.

In a pre-pack administration agreement, Tapi has agreed to acquire 54 Carpetright stores, along with the brand and its intellectual property. Unfortunately, this deal does not extend to most of Carpetright's locations, including its head office in Purfleet, Essex. As a result, numerous stores, including those in Glastonbury, will close.

The closures in the South West are particularly impactful, with major outlets in Bath, Frome, and Taunton also set to close. In Gloucestershire, the Cheltenham store will be affected. Other areas in the South West, including Devon, will also see multiple store closures.

The full list of Carpetright stores scheduled for closure includes locations across the UK.

For those affected, the company has announced that it will retain head office staff temporarily as it continues to wind down operations, but over 1,000 employees across its stores will face redundancy.
