Glastonbury campervan fire is not being linked to earlier caravan blaze near Tesco
By Laura Linham 23rd Jun 2026
A campervan fire in Glastonbury in the early hours of Sunday, 21 June, is not connected to the previous caravan fire near Tesco, police have confirmed.
Fire crews from Glastonbury and Street were called at around 2.30am after Fire Control received multiple calls reporting a campervan on fire.
On arrival, crews found one campervan well alight, with smoke and flames issuing from the vehicle. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the vehicle and its contents were around 60% damaged by fire.
Firefighters used one hose reel jet, one covering jet, one compressed air foam attack jet, a thermal imaging camera and compressed air foam concentrate to bring the fire under control. The incident was later marked as closed, with the last update issued at 8.41am.
The fire service said the cause was believed to be deliberate. The incident came just over a week after a separate fire in Beckery New Road, Glastonbury, on Saturday, 13 June, in which three caravans and a neighbouring building were damaged.
However, an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson has now confirmed the latest incident is not connected to the previous caravan fire near Tesco.
In the Beckery New Road investigation, a man in his twenties was arrested on Thursday, 18 June, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. Two people arrested on Sunday, 14 June, have since been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue.
Police previously said no one was injured in the Beckery New Road fire. Enquiries into that separate incident remain ongoing.
