Cllr Cottle was widely respected in the local community and known for his dedication to town life.

What does a town councillor do?

Glastonbury Town Council is the lowest tier of local government, focused on the most local issues affecting the town.

Town councillors:

  • Represent residents and raise local concerns
  • Help shape decisions on planning, public spaces and events
  • Manage assets like parks, community buildings and the town hall
  • Support local services and grant funding for groups and charities

This role is separate from the by election for the role of county councillor, which is responsible for broader services including highways, social care, education, and waste collection.
