In a significant development for the local business community, the Chamber of Commerce of Glastonbury and Street have merged, heralding a new era of collaboration and growth.
Laura Wolfers, the newly appointed Chair of the joint Chamber, has shared her enthusiasm and vision in the inaugural newsletter of the unified entity.
A Union of Synergy and Efficiency
The decision to merge was driven by multiple factors, primarily the synergies between the two communities. This union aims to expand networking opportunities across a broader audience, benefiting businesses in both areas. The past nine months have seen successful joint events, reinforcing the positive impact of this collaboration.
Another key reason for the merger is the pooling of volunteer resources. This consolidation means increased efficiency and reduced duplication of efforts, making the Chamber more effective in supporting local businesses. Furthermore, the merger strengthens ties with local councils and governments, ensuring a more influential voice for the business community.
As someone who has run businesses in both towns and been involved in their respective Chambers, Laura Wolfers brings a wealth of experience to the role. Her recent accreditation in carbon literacy is a step towards guiding the Chambers towards sustainability, reflecting a commitment to future-proofing local businesses.
Looking Ahead: Initiatives and Events
The Chamber is currently focusing on developing a new website, with thanks to JDP Digital. The upcoming calendar is bustling with activities, including a Christmas Meal at The Middlewick, digital workshops, retail and hospitality focus groups, and regular networking opportunities. The aim is to foster a vibrant business community that is well-connected and supportive.
