Elsewhere this weekend, The New Avalon Ballroom - a three-day festival of psych and psychedelic music is headed to Glastonbury on the 12th of May. Taking place in The King Arthur, the festival will feature artists such as ZubZub and Deviant Amps.

On Friday the 12th of May, Strode Theatre will be hosting the Mark Harrison Band. Described by Paul Jones at BBC Radio 2 as an artist who "makes you think afresh", Mark is an original songwriter, a stunning guitarist, and a master storyteller. Mark's live shows are also well-known for his introductions and explanations of the songs, delivered in a manner often described as 'wry' and 'dry'. Mark Harrison Band takes elements of roots music, including folk, blues, and gospel, to create something new that is very much its own genre. Each song is a snapshot of life or has a story to tell.

Also on Friday the 12th of May, Strode Live is hosting an album launch at the Red Brick Building in Glastonbury. The event will feature Strode College music students playing a range of original songs, including tracks from the StrodeLive 2023 album.

On Saturday the 13th of May, the Strode Theatre will be broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final live in its studio. With close to 170 million viewers last year, the Eurovision song contest is the most popular live music show in the world. For the first time, the BBC's Eurovision grand final show will be broadcast live into cinemas across the UK, allowing fans everywhere to come together and share in the incredible experience of celebrating the biggest, brightest, boldest music party of the year, on the big screen!

Also on Saturday the 13th of May, the Glastonbury Soul Club will be playing 60s soul, RnB, northern, Latin, gospel and jazz at the Glastonbury Football Club. With guest DJs Cris Davis and Richard Pope from Bristol, it is sure to be a fun and lively night.

Finally, on the same day, the Mid-Somerset Orchestra will be performing its spring concert at the Strode Theatre. The concert will feature romantic music from England, Germany, and Russia, including pieces by Brahms, Frederick Delius, and Elgar. The second half of the concert will feature Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony, which is famous for its dramatic opening "Fate" fanfare, the beautifully melancholic oboe solo in the second movement, the pizzicato scherzo and the energetic Russian folk tunes of the finale, making it one of the most popular symphonies in the romantic repertoire.

Overall, there's a diverse range of events happening in Glastonbury and Street this weekend, so there's sure to be something for everyone to enjoy!
