If you're job-hunting in that slightly passive-aggressive way ("I'm not really looking but if something better came up..."), this week's batch might just nudge you off the fence. Whether you're wielding a spatula, a spreadsheet or a screwdriver, there's something here with your name on it — or at least a badge that says so.

The big one this week is the Director role at Glastonbury Abbey. Following the retirement of Janet Bell MBE (yes, those letters matter), the Abbey is after someone to steer its spiritual ship into the next era. Strategic vision, people skills and probably a love of medieval stonework essential. It's full-time, permanent, and pays £66k+—just don't expect it to come with a mitre.

Plenty of chef-ing going on. Chartwells wants two Chefs — one in Glasto (£14.02/hr) and another in Street (£13.50/hr) — both full-time and permanent, slinging good grub without the greasy spoon vibe.

Or for something heartier in the emotional sense, Somerset Care in Castle Cary needs a Cook for their care home. £13.50/hr weekdays, £14.55 weekends, plus full-time hours and proper appreciation for a decent shepherd's pie.

Got the mind of a number ninja? Clarks HQ in Street is after a Data Analyst for their Merchandising team. Permanent role, no salary listed, but you'll be eyeballs-deep in metrics and margin plans.

Meanwhile, a more bean-counting kind of role: Financial Controller at Stay Original Co in Shepton. £60k a year and a chance to say you work in boutique hospitality without having to wear an apron.

Cary Brook care home is hiring an Activity Co-ordinator (£13.26/hr). Think bingo caller meets gentle life coach. No experience needed, but enthusiasm for themed craft afternoons and old tunes on vinyl probably helps.

Warehouse Assistant wanted in Upper Langford by JPAT, a company that does mysterious and oily things with torque converters. Full-time, Monday to Friday, competitive pay, and a tidy team vibe.

Prefer your work mobile? A Glasto-based firm is looking for a Driver Rep. It's not just driving—you'll be quoting, measuring, and smiling winningly. No cold calls, all appointments booked. £55k, full-time.

Wells Cathedral School seeks a Sous Chef to help run their high-grade kitchens. £30k, full-time, and presumably no turkey twizzlers.

On the paper-pushing front, there's a Service Administrator gig with JLA in Wells. It's contract-based at £24k, doing your bit to keep the engineers on the road and the paperwork less terrifying.

Fancy a bit of fitting and measuring with a twist of self-employment? Hillarys wants local Installers across the patch. Curtains, blinds, shutters, you name it. Up to £50k if you're nifty and like working solo.

That's your lot for now. For more vacancies, curious career turns, and the occasional wildcard, pop over to the Glastonbury Nub News jobs board. You never know what might turn up.
