A former agricultural storage building in a hamlet near West Pennard can continue to be used as a home after Mendip District Council granted planning permission.

A planning application for a certificate of lawful existing use of building as a single dwellinghouse (C3) at Manor Farm, Piltown, near West Pennard, had been submitted by Jamie Bowditch.

Works to convert the building, known as The Flat, from a store into a house were completed in 2016, and now permission for it to be used as such has been given, with the council saying the applicant has shown that it has been lived in for more than four years.

Planning applications in the Glastonbury area that have been submitted to Mendip District Council this week include:

Erection of single-storey garden room with balcony above on west elevation, single-storey extension on east elevation and fenestration at Bethel Cottage, Barton Road, Butleigh, has been applied for by Mr Ben Gross.

Works to a tree in a Conservation Area T1 - paper birch - removal of overhanging branches, reduction of crown not exceeding 1m at 18 Bove Town, Glastonbury, are wanted by Mr Glen Herbert.

Planning applications in the Glastonbury area that have been decided this week by Mendip District Council include:

Erection of single-storey side extension at 6 Jacobs Close, Glastonbury, by Mr Paul Scott has been approved.

Works to a tree in a Conservation Area T1 - bay - fell at 42 Benedict Street, Glastonbury, by Miss Jill Branton have been approved.
