Somerset is currently grappling with the effects of Storm Henk, a named storm that has brought a deluge of rain and strong winds to the county.

The Met Office has issued a severe wind warning, effective until 8pm, and a separate rain warning that will last until 9pm. Coastal areas of the county are bracing themselves for winds of up to 80mph.

Residents are advised to brace for potential travel disruptions and a high likelihood of further flooding.

The River Brue is expected to rise sharply due to the ongoing heavy rainfall. This could lead to overtopping from the Glastonbury Millstream and the River Brue at North Drain and Westhay. The B3151 road from Glastonbury to Meare is among the areas most at risk.

With more rain forecasted in the coming days, the Environment Agebct continues to monitor the situation closely, including rainfall, river levels, and the status of flood defences.

Residents are urged to stay informed about local weather conditions and water levels, and to review their flood plans. Residents are also being urged not to drive, cycle, or walk through floodwater.
