Fire engines attend blaze at King William pub in Glastonbury's Market Place

Residents and visitors are being advised to avoid the Market Place in Glastonbury as emergency services respond to a fire at the King William pub.

The incident began at around 11:20am today, and both police and fire services are currently at the scene.

No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident.

As a result of the ongoing situation, High Street has been closed to all traffic. The public is being urged to stay away from the area to allow emergency services to carry out their work.

Five fire engines have been dispatched to the location and are presently working to tackle the fire. At this time, fire crews are still on the scene.

Residents and local businesses are encouraged to watch for updates from official channels. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Update: 1pm Some of the Fire crews are beginning to pack their equipment away, but vehicles remain at the scene.

Update: 1.15pm Fire crews are removing the scene tape, although part of the Market Place pedestrianised area remains cordoned off and the High Street remains closed.

Update: 1.45pm High Street re-opened to traffic.

Update 4.20pm Market Place open and all emergency services have left the scene.
