Ferne Animal Sanctuary gears up for its much-loved annual Summer Fete

Ferne Animal Sanctuary, the Somerset-based animal rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming charity, welcomes visitors to enjoy the return of its annual Summer Fete event on Sunday 20th July 2024 between 10 am and 4 pm.
The Summer Fete is to be held within the beautiful grounds of the working sanctuary in the stunning Blackdown Hills, Chard, and promises to be a day packed with fun, games, entertainment and interactive activities for all ages and all weather.
The event is set to be the perfect warm-up for the school summer holidays, with activities to suit animal, insect and adventure lovers alike. Visitors can enjoy a day joined by the Somerset Moth Group, observing fascinating moths that have gathered overnight and learn all about their unique species and behaviours. Throughout the grounds, visitors can enjoy activities including giant outdoor games such as hoopla and noughts and crosses, or for those with wild imaginations, the Creative Corner will host an array of hands-on arts and crafts.
Emma Purnell, Chief Executive Officer at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, says, "We're so excited to welcome everyone to this year's Summer Fete – it's set to be our best event yet! From wildlife discoveries and creative fun to beach vibes and important pet care advice, there truly is something for everyone. It's a wonderful way to bring our community together while supporting the animals at Ferne, and I couldn't be prouder of the team for putting on such a fantastic day."
For those looking for shelter from the rain or sun, an indoor beach will feature everything a beach lover should desire, complete with sandpits, paddling pools, ice cream treats and tips on keeping pets safe in the heat.
Entry to the Summer Fete is £5 per adult and £1 per child. All proceeds from the event will go directly to supporting Ferne Animal Sanctuary's ongoing efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need.
Ferne Animal Sanctuary is a non-government funded charity that has provided refuge and rehabilitation to its animals for more than 80 years. Located in a National Landscapes area and nested in the Blackdown Hills near Chard, Somerset, Ferne Animal Sanctuary houses and cares for more than 300 animals on its 72-acre site.
