CPRE Somerset's annual photography competition is taking entries until the end of September, and people from Glastonbury are being urged to take part.

The theme is Enjoying the Somerset Countryside, and the winner will receive a £100 cash prize.

Here in Somerset, we are lucky to have incredibly varied landscapes and wonderful countryside. We all know how getting out into the fresh air can lift our mood, so CPRE Somerset, the countryside charity, wants you to share your photos of your best times out with your family and friends, even four-legged ones.

You could be walking the dog, riding your bike, having a picnic, attending a festival, picking blackberries, milking the cows, using traditional skills like thatching or hedge-laying, or quietly birdwatching or even playing pooh sticks.

CPRE Somerset Branch Manager, Becky Collier, said: "We would love to see people sending in their photos from across the whole county, to share just what our countryside means to us all."

Entries are invited from amateur photographers who can submit up to three images to this free competition.

Two judges, CPRE chair Chris Lewis and professional photographer Kit Houghton, will then choose their favourite.

The winner will be announced at the charity's annual meeting in October and they will receive a prize of £100.

Entries should be emailed as an attachment to [email protected] by midnight on 30th September (this is an extension to the previous closing date) along with the following information:

  • Photographer's name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Location of photo
  • Date photo taken
  • Name of photograph or caption (no more than 20 words)

Full terms and conditions of the competition can be downloaded at www.cpresomerset.org.uk.
