Emergency services were called to a home in Glastonbury yesterday afternoon (September 2) following welfare and petrol fume concerns being raised.

Avon and Somerset Police attended the address in Glastonbury, which they have asked not to be shared, at about 4pm yesterday due to reported concerns for the welfare of the householder, who was found not to be at home.

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service environmental protection unit from Taunton Fire Station also attended to make sure the property was safe due to a smell of petrol.

Crews entered in full fire kit using a photo ionisation gas detector, and they ventilated the property to reduce the petrol fumes to a safe level.

The duty of care was left with the police, who confirmed that the householder was later found safe.
