It's been a busy weekend for firefighters in Street.

At 2.04am on Saturday morning crews were sent as a relief cre to a barn fire, then at 10:51am they were sent on standby to another station to provide cover to an ongoing incident.

At 1.01pm on Sunday a pump was mobilised for standby duties at Bridgwater fire station, then at 1.19pm they were sent to a fire at a bungalow in Bridgwater.

Fire crews confirmed a fire at the back of the bungalow affecting a conservatory. Neighbours had already tried to put out the fire using a garden hose prior to the arrival of the Fire Service. Fire crews gained entry via the occupiers who had returned to the property. One small dog was removed from the bungalow unharmed.

Fire crews confirmed slight smoke logging to the property which was ventilated using a positive pressure ventilation fan and checked for fire spread Fire crews confirmed this was a fire involving the external wall of the conservatory of a bungalow measuring 10 metres by 15 metres of brick and tile construction. Approximately 30% of the external cladding on the conservatory was damaged by fire. 10% of the inside of the bungalow was affected by smoke. The fire was extinguished by fire crews using 1 hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan. The cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.

Then, at 4.51pm they were called to a field fire in Baltonsborough, and were later put on standby for a property fire in Bridgwater.

The weekend's action came on the back of a busy month. July saw the Street crews alerted 27 months, making it the busiest month of the year so far.
