Bath and West Steam Railway

The railway has several building and engineering projects on the go for 2023.

Here are pictures of the Carriage Shed Extention which we are in the process of building. We are doing this to run more four wagon trains because of the increasing number of guests who ride with us. This has also meant a total revamp of the engine shed.

The extra space saved will then allow us to revamp our workshop which has a number of lathes and milling machines. At times there is little space for our members to move around in, so the Carriage Shed Extention has meant a bigger move around for the club. This will allow us to continue building our Black 5 steam loco. The new boiler arrived early in February.

Other projects include a steam bay roof and a possible extension to the track.

So a lot is happening this year. If you want to help then please contact [email protected] We are always looking for new members whether they have engineering skills or not. After all, we all like playing with trains whatever our age!
