Baltonsborough woman convicted of husband’s murder
A woman has been found guilty of murdering her husband in Baltonsborough earlier this year.
Christine Kekkonen, 36, fatally stabbed her husband, Henri Kekkonen, at their home on Dunford Terrace on 9 May. She was convicted today (29 November) at Bristol Crown Court and is due to be sentenced on Friday 28 March.
Henri, aged 41, was attacked between 4pm and 4.20pm. At 4.21pm, Christine sent a text to her mother, saying, "Mum, please get the police here now. Please. I've done something awful." Her father contacted emergency services, who arrived within 15 minutes. Despite their efforts, Henri was pronounced dead at the scene.
During a search of the house, a knife was recovered, leading to Christine's arrest. She was later charged with murder by the Major Crime Investigation Team.
Detective Superintendent Lorett Spierenburg, who led the investigation, said: "Henri was a loving husband who, at 41, had so much more life to live. Those opportunities were cruelly taken from him.
"Christine Kekkonen is clearly a vulnerable woman, but her actions that afternoon have cut short the life of a man who completely doted on her.
"I am pleased for Henri's family that the woman responsible for his death has today been convicted of his murder, and my thoughts remain with them."
The case has shocked the local community, leaving many reflecting on the tragedy and its impact on those involved.
