Glastonbury's Somerset Rural Life Museum looks set to back in business early next month (August).

South West Heritage Trust, which runs the Chilkwell Street museum, is currently putting plans in place for the reopening.

The trust is "keen to make the right decisions" for visitors and conducted an online survey focusing on reopening at both Somerset Rural Life Museum and Taunton's Museum of Somerset.

The questionnaire received 708 responses and the trust is considering the feedback.

A spokesperson for the Somerset Rural Life Museum said: "The survey tells us that naturally some visitors are cautious about returning.

"More than half of you told us you would, however, be interested in online exhibitions and talks and we're working to make this happen.

"You also told us how much you value our temporary exhibitions and we have some exciting news coming up about a fresh, new art exhibition. Hygiene measures and social distancing are, of course, identified as important.

"You also told us that you want your visit to remain as fun, educational and interesting as possible and that you'd expect the café and shop to be open.

"There was lots more really helpful information in the survey results, so thank you. We're working on all these things and look forward to updating you with reopening dates soon."
