For the second time in three days, the fire service has been called to Glastonbury to put out a caravan blaze.

At about 12.45am today (November 7) Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a member of the public reporting a caravan on fire at the Roman Way.

Two fire appliances from Street and Glastonbury were immediately mobilised by Fire Control.

On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that two touring caravans were well alight with LPG gas cylinders also involved.

Crews got to work to tackle the fire using two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet, until the cylinders were discovered. Crews then withdrew from the risk area and cooled the cylinders with ground monitors.

Occupants from nearby caravans were also evacuated until the scene was deemed safe.
