Plans submitted for new stable block and menage in Baltonsborough

Plans have been submitted to Mendip District Council for a stable block to be built and a menage created in Baltonsborough.

A planning application for the proposed building of stables, and creation of menage and associated external lighting at Northfields, Ham Street, Baltonsborough, has been submitted by Mr S Stamper.

The proposed stable block would feature four stables, a tack room and a storage area. It is planned as a single-storey structure and would be for personal use.

Post and rail fencing will surround the menage, and the proposal includes six external LED lights around the arena in order to provide illumination at times of low light, such as winter.

It intended that the lights will be on no later than 10pm, and will be downlighters so as not to light the night sky more than necessary.

Planning applications in the Glastonbury area that have been decided by Mendip District Council this week include:

Rebuild collapsed south west corner of barn, using original stones and matching lime putty mortar, using internal concealed stainless steel ties to existing masonry; re-roof with existing tiles at Higher South Town Farm, Southtown Lane, West Pennard, by David Powell has been approved.

Proposed works to tree/s in a Conservation Area: T1 T2 (ash) - prune at 31 High Street, Butleigh, by Mrs Barnes has been approved.

Extend existing driveway by dropping of kerb and conversion of existing flat-roofed garage into living space with a pitched roof and front window, in place of the current garage door and replacing the existing single-glazed rear property entrance at 24 Hill Head Close, Glastonbury, by Mr and Mrs Robert and Sarah Weech has been approved.

Works to trees in a conservation area - T1 (holly) reduce crown by 40 per cent at Abbey Grange, 19 Magdalene Street, Glastonbury, by Dr Timothy Hopkinson-Ball have been approved.

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (joinery details) and 4 (construction of floor slab and underfloor heating) on listed building consent 2020/1729/LBC at Lottisham Manor, Lottisham Lane, Lottisham, by Helenka Maciej-Hill has been approved.
