Police carry out speed checks on Brooks Road in Street
By Laura Linham 5th Oct 2026
Police have carried out speed checks on Brooks Road in Street after residents raised concerns about drivers travelling too fast.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they carried out speed checks and will continue when possible.
A new Community Speedwatch site has also been authorised on Brooks Road, allowing volunteers to work alongside local officers to help tackle speeding.
The neighbourhood policing team is working with the force's Speed Enforcement Unit and local Speedwatch volunteers following renewed concerns about vehicles using the road.
Drivers are being asked to obey the speed limit and consider the safety of residents and other road users.
Police are also inviting people to join Street's Community Speedwatch team, with training and equipment provided free of charge.
Anyone interested can contact police on 101 or complete the Community Speedwatch form through the Avon and Somerset Police website. Avon and Somerset Police
