Car fire closes A39 near Beckery roundabout in Glastonbury

Emergency services have closed the A39 near the Beckery roundabout in Glastonbury after a car caught fire.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the Glastonbury bypass while crews deal with the incident.

Police and fire crews are currently on the scene, and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes as heavy traffic builds up around the area.

Google maps shows traffic building up in the area (Google).

A spokesperson for the fire service said, "We are working to extinguish the fire and ensure the area is safe. We ask the public to be patient and avoid the bypass if possible."

No injuries have been reported at this stage. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

For those travelling through Glastonbury, please consider using alternative routes and follow the advice of emergency services.
