A Millfield Upper Sixth student, Eden Robinson, has been named the Welsh Junior Female Athlete of the Year, marking another achievement in her athletic journey.

Eden, who joined Millfield as a boarder in the Lower Sixth, recently placed fifth in the Heptathlon at the World U20 Championships in Peru. She also secured first place in the UK U20 category for the Heptathlon during the 2024 season.

Reflecting on her recognition, Eden said, "It is amazing to have been awarded Welsh Junior Female Athlete of the Year, especially after how hard the climb was to make World Juniors as the youngest in my event."

Balancing her rigorous sports schedule with her A Level studies in Maths, Chemistry, and PE, Eden credits her success to effective time management. "I keep a diary and calendar to track my sessions and plan when I need to do my revision and homework. The staff support network is incredible, and they've created a space where I'm comfortable letting them know if I need extra time to complete work," she said.

Alongside her Heptathlon achievements, Eden also serves as vice-captain of the Netball 1st team and participates in various extracurricular activities, including orchestra and jazz band. She is also part of the Girls in Sport committee. Eden added, "Being at Millfield, I've been able to focus on academics, netball, and athletics without making sacrifices, all thanks to the amazing people around me. The community of coaches, teachers, and my housemistress allows me to thrive in all areas of my life."

Neil Wheeler, Millfield's Director of Athletics, praised Eden's hard work and leadership. "We congratulate Eden on an outstanding season and a well-deserved award. Her commitment has been unwavering, and what truly stands out is the positive energy she brings to her interactions with both the coaching team and her fellow students. She has been a driving force on the athletics team and is a true role model for her peers."
