Street's budding tennis prodigy, Charlie Ruffell, has vaulted into the national spotlight by securing a spot among the UK's top six under-16 players, earning an exclusive invitation to an elite Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) camp.

The 15-year-old Millfield School attendee showcased his racket prowess at the prestigious National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, the training ground of British tennis aces like Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu.

His selection follows a series of stellar performances, most notably as part of the Millfield team that seized the Boys National Schools Championship in Bolton—their first national title in a decade. Ruffell's 2022 highlights also include clinching the U14 National Tennis Doubles Championship and reigning supreme in both singles and doubles at the Tennis Europe event in Repton.

Reflecting on his selection, Ruffell shared his elation and surprise, praising the Millfield Tennis programme for its vital role in his development. "The coaches and players I train with every day have made the programme what it is," he said, attributing his ascent in the sport to the supportive environment at Millfield.

Dan Manlow, Head of Tennis at Millfield, lauded Charlie's dedication and heralded him as a role model for younger players. "Charlie's invitation to the national camp is a testament to his tenacity. He's set the benchmark for our younger aspirants," said Manlow.

Currently navigating Year 11 with a curriculum that includes Business Studies, Geography, and Spanish, Ruffell has his sights set on a tennis scholarship at an American university following his tenure at Millfield.
