Peter Shore from Glastonbury has written a non-fictional account of drama and scandal during the First World War.

Entitled War Widow and Child, the tragic story of scandal in a normal family has gained critical acclaim.

Peter volunteers for Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) shop in Glastonbury and was keen to raise funds for the charity through sales of his work.

For every paperback sold, £1 will go to CHSW and for every e-book purchased, 50p will go to the charity.

Emma Parker, community fundraiser at CHSW, said: "Not only does Peter donate his precious time to CHSW, he's now offering proceeds from the sale of his book to the charity and we are very grateful to him.

"Our local hospice, Charlton Farm in North Somerset, currently looks after more than 220 families whose children are not expected to live to adulthood and we rely on the community to raise funds to help sustain our vital services into the future."
