Whether you're itching for a change or just curious what's out there, browsing the local job scene can feel like a small act of optimism. These are proper jobs with real pay, local hours, and a decent chance you'll bump into someone you know on your lunch break. Here's what's up for grabs in Street and Glastonbury this week.

The Sleek Easy Clean is after Domestic & Holiday Let Cleaners to keep local homes and Airbnbs sparkling across Street and surrounding villages. It's part-time (or full-time if you're keen), pays £12.50–£15 an hour, and offers flexible hours plus paid training. You'll need to be trustworthy, transport helps, and there's a surprising amount of laundry involved.

Meanwhile, Churchill Estates wants a Lodge Manager for Cavendish Lodge in Glastonbury. This one's weekday hours (30 per week) at £19,286 annually. You'll be the welcoming face and steady hand keeping the place running smoothly. Ideal if you enjoy chatting with retirees and making sure the bins go out on time.

Over on the building sites, Wick Hollow Ltd is hiring a Site Labourer for immediate start in Glastonbury. Temp contract, £16 an hour. Expect mud, materials, and helping out the real tradespeople. CSCS card preferred, steel toe boots essential. If you've got the gear, they've got the wheelbarrow.

They're also after a Telehandler Operator for the same site. £20–£21 an hour, temp role, CPCS or NPORS card required. You'll mostly be moving heavy stuff without putting your back out, ideally while looking like you know what all those levers do.

If your talents lie more in tagliatelle than timber, Prezzo in Street is hiring both a Line Chef (£12.50–£13ph) and a Sous Chef (£13.50–£14.50ph). Both are permanent gigs with tronc (yes, actual tips), birthday perks, and enough pasta to sink a gondola. If you know your arrabbiata from your elbow, there's a uniform waiting.

For the practically minded, CBRE in Street needs a Fabric Technician – that's someone handy with walls, ceilings, flooring, and the odd risk assessment. It's full-time, permanent, and ideal for those with carpentry or maintenance skills. If you can use a drill without swearing too much, this one might be for you.

More into wires than wood? A national firm is looking for a Fire and Security Service Engineer around Glastonbury. It's a permanent role paying up to £42K, with a van, bonuses, and your birthday off. CCTV, alarms, panels – the works. Techies with clean licences and a steady hand encouraged.

Over in Coxley, there's a Class 1 Driver slot going for general haulage and trunking work. £18 an hour if you're PAYE and holiday-inclusive. Days or nights, flexibility offered. Must come with the full set: LGV C licence, DQC and Digi card.

And if your calling is the classroom, there's a September start for a Primary Teacher (SEND) in a specialist setting near Street. Contract role via TeacherActive, paying £220 a day. QTS needed, plus patience and passion in equal measure. It's more than just a teaching job—it's a chance to help kids thrive.

Finally, Glastonbury Abbey is on the lookout for a Head of Finance and Company Secretary. It's 30 hours per week, pays £46,525 FTE, and requires someone comfortable with spreadsheets and sacred ruins. Accountants with a love of heritage and a disdain for nonsense need apply.
