Wagamama's arrival in central Somerset steps closer: Clarks Village units approved for restaurant transformation
The dream of bringing a Wagamama to central Somerset has come a significant step closer to reality after planners approved plans to turn two units in Clarks Village into a restaurant.
The approval means that nits 29 and 30 at Clarks Village in Street - previously home to Samsonite and Jaeger - will be amalgamated into a new, larger unit to be repurposed as a restaurant.
According to the paperwork submitted in the application, the proposed operator of the restaurant is Wagamama.
Wagamama is a British restaurant chain, serving Asian food inspired by Japanese cuisine.
The application also pointed out that there is considerable pressure on existing food and drink outlets within the centre during peak trading periods.
