Street is just days away from a major High Street boost, as a new One Stop store prepares to open its doors in the former WHSmith building on Friday 18 July.

Located at 85 High Street, the store will offer a wide range of everyday essentials including groceries, household items, snacks and newspapers, along with in-store services such as free cash withdrawals, an Evri parcel shop, food-to-go options and the National Lottery.

It marks the latest stage in the return of key services to the heart of the village, following the reopening of Street's main Post Office at the same address in June.

The new One Stop store will complement the Post Office's return by providing a central point for both everyday shopping and essential services.

Owned by Tesco but run as a separate brand, One Stop operates more than 900 stores across England and Wales.

Street and Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce welcomed the development, praising the efforts of Hardik Pandya and the team behind the project.

A spokesperson said: "This is a huge win for the village. Having the Post Office return and One Stop moving in will make a real difference to residents and businesses alike."

Building work is still under way, and locals are being asked to bear with the team as final preparations are made.

Once open, the store is expected to become a go-to spot for everything from last-minute groceries to parcel drop-offs — bringing essential services firmly back into the centre of Street.
