An Eva Cassidy tribute show is heading to Street this autumn, with Hampshire singer Zoe Lindsay bringing Freebird to Strode Theatre on Friday, 16 October.

The show, which starts at 7.30 pm, follows a sold-out performance at Hanger Farm in Hampshire and has also received an endorsement from Eva Cassidy's brother, Dan Cassidy.

Lindsay said the Somerset date has particular significance because of her childhood memories of the county. She said bringing the production to Street felt especially meaningful.

Freebird was created following the death of Lindsay's mother in 2018, who she said was a major inspiration behind the show. The title was chosen in her memory, while the feather used in the show's logo represents her as an angel.

Lindsay said she found it difficult to sing Eva Cassidy's music for some time after her mother's death. She later returned to the songs and developed the show as a tribute to Cassidy's music and legacy.

She said: "Eventually, I found my way back to the music, and Freebird was born, a celebration of Eva's incredible music and legacy, while also carrying a little piece of my mum with me."

The show has been personally endorsed by Dan Cassidy, something Lindsay said meant "an enormous amount" to her.
