Street Theatre is to be the first amateur company in the country to present the Award Winning 'off' West End play, The Mayfly.

Joe White's tender and wise debut play is suffused with grief and loss yet remains refreshingly, surprisingly, heartbreakingly funny. The play observes a family coming to terms with grief in their own unique way over the events of one important day.

Ben thinks his family might be better off without him, but his wife Cat has read her stars: 'Today a very special person will appear from out the blue". A young man is drawn into their lives, into their struggles.

The author scratches at the fragility of existence and asks how to keep alive memories of those who have been lost. It's a play about people consumed by misery yet it is unexpectedly funny and – like its dented, broken characters – always likeable.

Mayfly debuted in London in April 2018 to critical acclaim and Street Theatre have been granted special permission to perform it for the very first time by an amateur group.

Please note the play contains strong language

This is an amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books

Tickets for The Mayfly are available from Strode Theatre.

The play will be staged from November 7-9.
