Street tennis club serves up major upgrade plans

The Victoria Lawn Tennis Club in Street is serving up an exciting challenge – they're rallying to raise a smashing £18,000 to breathe new life into their beloved club, transforming it into a modern, eco-friendly sports haven.

First on their match point list: a lighting revolution. Out with the old floodlights and in with the sleek, energy-saving LED lights. Imagine playing under the glow of these efficient beams, making those evening rallies more exhilarating than ever.

The club's courts, veterans of 40 years, are showing their age with cracks and wear. It's time for a facelift. Resurfacing these courts means smoother serves and better bounces, bringing a new game to local tennis enthusiasts.

And let's not forget the clubhouse - the heart of any club. The plan is to replace the worn-out shelter with something spectacular: a spacious, modern clubhouse where tales of triumphs and near-misses can be shared. This new hub will not just be a building but a community cornerstone, a place where friendships are forged over backhands and volleys.

John Cooksley, the club's Head Coach, is leading this fundraising rally. Each contribution, big or small, brings them closer to their £18,000 goal. It's a community effort, and every penny will go towards lighting up the courts, smoothing out the playing surfaces, and building a clubhouse that's the envy of tennis clubs everywhere.

Ready to be part of this ace effort? Swing by their GoFundMe page and help write a new chapter in the club's history. Who knows, your contribution might just be the winning shot they need!
