A long-standing shoe repair shop in Street is closing after 40 years in business.

Express Shoe Repair in Farm Road will shut its doors, bringing to an end owner Steve Lukins' 55 years working in the shoe trade.

Mr Lukins shared the news in a social media post, thanking customers, neighbouring businesses and friends for their support over the years.

He wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the closure of my shoe repair shop in Farm Road after forty years.

"It's been a wonderful life and I would do it all again in a heartbeat."

He thanked customers "many of whom have become friends" along with fellow traders and staff in Street.

Mr Lukins said the people around him had been "part of my daily life for many years".
