Brooks Road, Middle Brooks and Overleigh in Street are due for summer surface dressing, while no roads in Glastonbury itself appear on Somerset Council's list.

Three roads in Street are due to be surface dressed this summer as part of Somerset Council's latest highways maintenance programme.

But in Glastonbury itself, no roads have been included on the list published by the council for work over the coming months.

The Street roads scheduled for treatment are Brooks Road, Middle Brooks and Overleigh.

Somerset Council said surface dressing is used to seal roads, improve skid resistance and stop water getting into the surface. The treatment helps extend the life of roads that are still in reasonable condition and can reduce the risk of potholes forming.

While Glastonbury has not been included directly, several nearby roads serving the wider area are on the programme. These include A361 Whitstone Hill in Pilton, A361 Woodlands Road to Stockbridge Lane near West Pennard, and Back Lane, Burtle Road and Shapwick Road in Westhay.

Most sites are expected to be completed within a day, or even within a few hours. In most cases roads will stay open with traffic controlled by stop-go boards, though some narrower routes may need short temporary closures.

The programme depends on warm weather, meaning dates could change at short notice if conditions are not suitable.

Councillor Richard Wilkins, Somerset Council's portfolio holder for transport and waste services, said: "Every summer we deliver this programme so that our network remains safe.

"Surface dressing is critically important in keeping our highways running efficiently."
