Street's main Post Office is finally set to reopen on Monday 9 June, more than five months after its closure left the village centre without key services.

The High Street branch at number 85 shut on 4 January after WHSmith, who ran it, pulled out claiming it was no longer "sustainable."

While a sub-branch remained open in the west end of the village, the loss of the central site was felt by many.

A soft launch is planned on 9 June, with an official opening ceremony scheduled for Thursday 20 June.

Locals can expect the full range of services, with the branch open 49 hours a week: Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm, and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.

Antoinette Chitty, Post Office Area Change Manager, said: "We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are delighted to soon be restoring service at the same location as before."
