A children's football programme in Street faces closure next month unless new volunteers can be found to keep it running.

Street Football Club says its Street Minis sessions will come to an end on Saturday, 10 October, after coaches Alex and Ted announced they are moving on following two years at the helm.

The club is now urgently looking for someone willing to take over the sessions and says previous coaching experience or qualifications are not required.

Street FC said Alex and Ted had spent the past two years giving young children the chance to develop their football skills, make friends and enjoy the game.

The club said: "We cannot thank them enough for all their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment."

But with neither coach able to continue, there is currently nobody available to run the Minis beyond 10 October.

Street FC said it is prepared to support anyone willing to step forward, including helping them gain coaching qualifications and providing safeguarding training and DBS checks.

The appeal is aimed at anyone interested in grassroots football and helping young players, rather than only experienced coaches.

The club said: "We really don't want to see Street Minis come to an end, and we would love to hear from anyone interested in getting involved."

It added: "You don't need to be an experienced or qualified coach. We are happy to support anyone willing to take on the sessions."

Street FC also confirmed that 100% of the play fees are paid to the coaches in recognition of the time and commitment involved in running the sessions.

Without somebody new coming forward, the club says the programme will have no option but to close after 10 October.
