Street Fire Station has issued an appeal to the residents and businesses of Street and its surrounding areas, seeking support for their weekly training sessions.

The station, dedicated to maintaining high levels of preparedness for various emergencies, trains every Tuesday evening, focusing on a broad spectrum of incident types.

The fire service is in search of local partners willing to provide access to a variety of venues to enhance their practical skills and familiarisation exercises.

Specifically, they are looking for locations that can offer experiences with farm machinery, large vehicles, complex industrial machines, and scenarios involving animal rescue. This includes handling both large and small animals, ranging from farm stock to household pets.

Moreover, there's a call for venues that can accommodate water rescue training, including both moving and still water environments, which could range from rivers and lakes to swimming pools. The fire service also seeks access to warehouses, large basements, or extensive buildings suitable for search and rescue operations, as well as scrap compounds for practicing extrication of individuals from vehicles.

The appeal also extends to facilities that could provide experience with incidents involving solar farms, highlighting the fire service's commitment to addressing a wide array of potential emergency situations.

Street Fire Station assures the community that a full risk assessment will be conducted prior to any training exercise to ensure the safety of all participants and properties involved. The station is open to suggestions for training opportunities not listed in their initial request, indicating a proactive approach to expanding their operational readiness.

Community members or businesses able to assist are encouraged to get in touch via the Street Fire Station Facebook page or by emailing [email protected].

The station's initiative underscores the importance of community involvement in enhancing local emergency services' capabilities, ensuring they remain well-equipped to protect the community in times of need.
