Men in Street aged 40 and over are being offered a free prostate cancer test next month — but they must book ahead to take part.
The one-day event will run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, 15 November, at the Victoria Club on Leigh Road. It's being organised by the Somerset Prostate Support Association (SPSA), who say early diagnosis can be life-saving.
Appointments last around 10 to 15 minutes and must be booked in advance online. No walk-ins will be accepted on the day. All tests will be confidential and carried out by qualified medical staff.
Around 40,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, with 10,000 dying from the disease. The SPSA is urging local men to take the opportunity to get checked.
Men interested in booking should visit the SPSA website or call 01458 441669 for further details.
