Police say they will increase attention on the A39 Street Bypass after complaints about vehicles travelling at excess speed.

The Street and Glastonbury Neighbourhood Policing Team said it had received reports about speeding on the route. Officers said they will give the area "passing attention" when possible, especially during the evenings.

The team also said it will work with roads policing and speed enforcement units to help tackle the issue.

Police have reminded motorists to stick to the speed limits and help make local roads safer for everyone. The neighbourhood team said anti-social driving would also be taken seriously.

Officers warned that robust action could be taken where necessary, including the use of Section 59 powers under the Police Reform Act 2002. Those powers allow police officers and PCSOs to seize a vehicle being used in an anti-social manner.
