Street banking hub plans go on show as search for site continues
By Laura Linham 2nd Nov 2026
Plans for a new banking hub in Street will be explained at a public drop-in session as the search for premises continues.
Cash Access UK will be at Crispin Hall, 83 High Street, on Wednesday, 11 November, from 11.30am to 1.30pm to answer questions about the services it will provide.
The hub was announced in February this year and is expected to open in February 2027. Its latest status remains "property search underway", with no permanent address or confirmed opening date announced.
Once open, the hub is intended to provide a Post Office-operated counter for everyday cash transactions, alongside appointments with visiting bank staff.
Customers will be able to pay in cash and cheques, withdraw money, check balances, pay utility bills and top up gas and electricity. Change-giving services will also be available to registered businesses.
The counter is expected to operate Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm. Services, transaction limits and any charges will depend on the customer's bank.
Community bankers will attend on a rota, with different banks represented on different weekdays. They will offer face-to-face help in a private space with matters such as payments, transfers, account management and using online banking.
Cash Access UK has not yet confirmed which banks will send staff to Street. It says community bankers are usually provided by the banks with the most customers locally.
The list of banks supporting the national scheme does not mean every bank will have a representative at the Street hub. The local rota will be announced nearer its opening.
Banking hubs are owned by Cash Access UK and operated by the Post Office. The Crispin Hall session is an opportunity to find out about the planned service, rather than the opening of the hub itself.
