Street and Glastonbury businesses invited to take part in film and TV productions

Could your Street or Glastonbury business play a supporting role in film and TV production?
Local firms are being encouraged to put themselves in the spotlight through Somerset Council's Screen Somerset initiative.
The scheme connects Somerset companies with film and TV shoots, which last year brought an estimated £4.2m into the county. Producers often need local suppliers for services including accommodation, catering, couriers, cleaning, costume hire and security.
Businesses can boost their chances of being hired by registering free of charge on the Filming in England Supplier Directory, which many productions use when planning their shoots.
Cllr Mike Rigby, Somerset Council's lead member for economic development, said: "Film and TV shoots can put a lot of money into the economy. We want to make sure local, independent businesses feel as much of that economic benefit as possible. Registration only takes a few minutes, it's totally free and who knows where it could lead."
