By Tim Lethaby 16th Jul 2021

Date: 09.07.2018Time: 07:49Location: Godney Road, GlastonburyFire appliances from Glastonbury and Street were mobilised to a report of a caravan on fire on Godney Road in Glastonbury. On their approach they could see a large amount of smoke in the distance and upon arrival they confirmed a static caravan well alight. Due to the proximity of the fire to an open field of dry standing crops, they requested a wildfire pump to attend to assist in extinguishing the fire.  This came from Wells.Crews used a main attach jet with water from an open source and drag forks as well as compressed air foam which provided a preventable barrier to stop fire spread to the adjacent field. The cause of the fire was accidental which resulted in the caravan being completely destroyed along with 10 square metres of grassland.
